I consider myself a neophyte at being a Mama, and rightly so
since I’ve only been a mom for 14 months now. Like any other mom, I have my
good days, and my bad days. But it’s always a happy day, simply because Buzz to
me is Happiness.
Ever since I found out I was pregnant with him I was already
swathed in a warm, fuzzy, feeling of happiness. He brings out the best in me.
And I have become a completely different and much, much better version of my
old self.
And like any other mom, I have my favorites when it comes to
motherhood. Although, I honestly find happiness (weird as it may seem) in
everything that I do for my little bunny; even cleaning his poop or picking up
the things he throws on the floor!
Here goes my list!
1 The
Cuddles and the Snuggles
I remember holding Buzz for the first time
in the nursery. I had held him the very first time when I gave birth to him,
but it was cut short coz I zonked out after I got injected another dose of pain
junk since I was screaming in pain coz I could feel what my OB and the other
doctors were doing to me and my tummy. More of that horrendous story soon.
Hehe. Anyway, the first time I held him after my time at the recovery room, the
first thought that popped into my head was “what am I gonna do with this baby?”
It was a moment of pure, honest-to-goodness panic. A moment that quickly
passed. Because as soon as I he settled into my arms, I was a changed person. I
kinda felt like I knew exactly what I was gonna do (eventhough I had nooooo
idea). I popped out my boob and he nursed. He finished and we cuddled. And that
was the start of our favorite show of affection for each other.

| 4am Cuddle time when he was only a few days old :) |
We cuddle all the time. And not just during
breastfeeding. As Buzz became more active and started to play, I noticed that
he would go on playing for 10-15minute intervals. Afterwards, he would put down
whatever toy he’s holding, and climb up to me and hug me. Sometimes I get a
sloppy kiss. Or a head butt. Or a bite! Sometimes in the middle of the night he
wakes up, and just asks to be hugged. Most of the time he still wants to feed,
but there are some nights when he just wants to feel my arms around him. And
when he’s tired from all the pasyal when we go malling, he will just tuck his
head between head and chest and rest. Cuddle on the move. :)
All those cuddles I always welcome with
open arms. I am ready to cuddle and snuggle anytime!
2 Breastfeeding
An entire post needs to be dedicated to
this. Seriously. I intend to narrate my breastfeeding journey. To date, it is
one of my greatest accomplishments in life hahaha.
But to sum it up, I am a firm believer of
the benefits of breastfeeding. It doesn’t just benefit the baby, it also
benefits the mom! And Buzz and I are still breastfeeding, almost 14 months and
counting.

3 Something
new every day
There’s always something new that happens,
or something new I learn or Mark learns or Buzz learns. Just the other day, at
4:45 AM, Buzz refused to go back to sleep. So I had him tinker with my phone. I
turned on an app for him and it started to sing the ABC song. And Buzz sang
with it! (Eh-beh eh behhhh… I think he got this from his yaya! Must correct!
Hahaha)
I welcome the new things and new tricks and
new antics and new learnings that come our way. Change is good when you have a
baby. It means he is developing and becoming more of a maliit na mama. LOL.

4 Daddy
My being a Mommy would not be so great
without the man behind me who supports me all the way. Mark is an awesome
daddy. And an even more awesome husband. He has taken over chores and
responsibilities in order to lessen my load since I am breastfeeding Buzz and I
am the one who wakes up in the wee hours of morning. So he is the one who makes
Buzzie’s food. And the one who sterilizes my pump equipment. When I’m not
feeling well, he takes over taking care of Buzz. He plays with the little guy.
And he has successfully put Buzz to sleep several times. Really, he is such an
awesome guy and I’m lucky to have him.

5 Bedtime
I can’t remember how we did it. I just
remember Buzz was around 2 months old when we started to put him to sleep
around the same time every day. That would be 7pm. And I guess we really are so
lucky, coz until now, he is almost 14 months old, and he still sleeps at 7pm! Right
on the dot. J That’s
pretty amazing considering I know so many mommies who tell me that their kids
sleep at 11pm or even later. Although bedtime is my favorite not because Buzz
sleeps on time. But because it’s a ritual I personally make time for. I strive
my very best to be home before 6:30pm. So that Buzz and I can still play a bit.
And so that when bedtime comes, I’m the one who changes him into his pajamas. I
lather night time lotion on him. Sometimes I spritz our favorite skin refresher
too. He drinks his milk. I put him down on the bed. I lie down beside him and
5-10 minutes later, he’s out. I stay for another 10 minutes, to kiss his
forehead and smell his head. I love it. It’s truly peaceful and it makes me so
contented.

I could list down a few more other things
here. But it would make this post toooo long already. To sum it up, Motherhood
is a happy state. It’s challenging, and more often than not, really tiring. But
it makes me HAPPY. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. :)
